Ok girls, I’m going to start yet another series. (What can I say? I love them!) I love how many cool products and services there are, but I often find myself overwhelmed with all of the choices. I also sometimes worry that I’m about to sink my money into something totally worthless. Because I am frequently asked what equipment, products and services I use for my business, I decided to start sharing a few of my favorites with all of you.
One of my big goals for 2011 was to start finding tasks on my list that I could unload on others. (I believe the polite term is delegate.) One of the tasks that I truly don’t enjoy (and am really just not good at) is post-processing. I started looking for a business I could partner with and was thrilled to find PWD Labs!
The very first thing that blew my mind about PWD Labs was that they called me less than 24 hours after I submitted my Studio Account Application. Super-friendly Andrea welcomed me to their lab and asked if I had any questions about getting started. She wanted to let me know they are there for me and that if I had any questions I could just give her a call. I was already smitten with this company!
It was my very good intention to get my files uploaded right away, but you know how it is with change, right? I dragged my heels because I was too busy to figure out a new system and then I was off to WPPI. I had the pleasure of meeting several members of the PWD family there and all I can say is that they’re great people.
When I returned home and got back into my routine, I finally uploaded my files. While it is not at all hard, I’m a little technologically challenged, so they walked me through it. Shortly after, I received yet another phone call from Tricia who wanted to chat with me about my style and to learn about my artistic preferences. Because I chose the Signature Correction service, I will have an assigned editor that regularly works on my files. This means she will get to know my style and it will be like having a little part-time member of the EPP team over there. I was thrilled to soon after receive some really beautiful files in my inbox!
Okay mommas, I am going to get a little vulnerable here. (Actually, very, very vulnerable.) I had a huge internal debate about this, but I am going to show you a few before and afters. While I do custom white-balance and I do meter, I sent in a set of newborn twins who had funky newborn skin. On top of that one of my lights is having inconsistent output. (I found out it’s a bad capacitor that causes this. While I feel oh-so knowledgeable throwing that terminology around it still means I have some bad lighting going on!) Basically I’m telling you to brace yourself because my “befores” are a little rough. (I am officially horrified.) On the flip side, you’ll get to see how PWD really worked their magic! And because everyone should laugh at least once a day, I titled the columns “Before” & “After” . . . as if you couldn’t discern this for yourself!
If you feel like your post-processing could use some help or you feel like you are buried in work, I really encourage you to give these guys a try (www.pwdlabs.com). I am so excited to have found them and look forward to sending more sessions their way! Have a great day ladies!

Amy Roscoe - Thank you so much for sharing! I have two small children and it will be nice to have someone to “help” me when work and life get to be too much. Thank you! I just sent them some files to see how we work together.
Alexis Ciardella - Amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing. I just got off the phone with Andrea and she was a gem. This is the kind of help I have been searching for, but did not think it existed. I am amazed at how helpful and kind she was to me. I will never use any other company again- customer service goes a long way. I am learning the business and I quickly figured out who NOT to use. Thank you again. You have no idea how much time you have saved me.
Jennifer Sagle - Oh my goodness…an answer to my prayers!
