In the very early months of writing this blog, I wrote a post about how I made little emergency cards for my son who was too young to remember his phone number. As he’s grown a little older, he has memorized our home phone and home address, and is working on our cell numbers. My concern, however, is that should he panic, I’m not completely confident that he would keep all of the numbers straight. When we went to Disneyland last year, I had actual nightmares about him being pulled away from me in the crowd and us not being able to find each other. I knew I needed to do something to help me feel confident that should we be separated, he had a good chance of being returned safely to me.
Looking online, I found a company called Safetytat. They manufacture temporary tattoos for children that are imprinted with your phone numbers. They also offer tattoos with medical information (for example, if your child suffers from diabetes or severe allergies) as well. I was thrilled! A pack of fifty tattoos is a mere $19.99 and I now keep them in my purse so I can apply one to my son’s arm any time I worry.
For fellow mommas with high anxiety like mine, I hope this helps you out a bit when you take your children into the real world. If not, maybe we can talk about creating a utopian island (free of sharks and snakes, of course) where they’ll always be safe!
Have a great long weekend everyone!!

Marea Breedlove - That is an awesome idea! My son is 12 and within the last year have I started letting him go to the men’s bathroom alone. I’m not sure he could remember the numbers either. My son does have a heart condition and will take medication everyday for the rest of his life. Needless to say, I am overprotective.
Thanks for the info. I will share this.
Emily - So glad you liked this as much as I did! It definitely helps me feel a little better about my son’s safety!
Shimmer Body Art - Utilizing safety tattoos on your children may be extremely helpful in the event that they get lost for one reason or another. Thank you for posting info on this.
